Rivian R1T, Harley Davidson Livewire and other vehicles spotted in Tierra del Fuego
Reporting by Autoblog.com.ar states that the vehicles are apart of the Ewan McGregor lead Long Way Up attempt to cross the American continents. These vehicles were spotted in Ushuaia, Argentina, commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world.
A little Google translate magic states:
“Rivian R1T and Harley LiveWire in Ushuaia: two pick-ups and four motorcycles will make an electric crossing throughout America”
It was the closest thing to an extraterrestrial landing. They have exotic designs, flashy LED lights and no noise, just a slight hum. A convoy of pick-ups and electric motorbikes arrived in Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego) to launch a crossing throughout America.
The goal: to break a continental record for electric vehicles. The one in charge of leading the caravan will be the British actor Ewan McGregor ( Obi Wan Kenobi ), who on the way will film the continuation of his famous series The Long Way Down . As the journey will be from Ushuaia to Los Angeles, it will now be called The Long Way Up (Motoblog counts here ).
The protagonists of this adventure are the following.
* Rivian R1T: Two units of the first 100% electric full-size pick-up arrived.Rivian is an electric automaker founded in the United States in 2009. It does not have Tesla's deafening marketing, but it spiked at the end of the flat battery segment. The R1T has batteries between 105 and 180 kWh, which allow to reach powers of between 402 and 754 horses, with torques between 560 and 1,120 Nm. Accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds and reach 201 km / h top speed. The autonomy ranges between 390 and 660 kilometers.
* Harley-Davidson LiveWire: They are the 100% electric motorcycles of the legendary American manufacturer. They have 15 kWh batteries, with engines that develop 74 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. They accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and reach 180 km / h. The brand has not yet released official autonomy data.
These electric vehicles did not arrive alone in Argentina. They were accompanied by two Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4Matic (with double traction) and a rustic Ford F350 (V8 6.2), with dual wheels on the rear axle. These will be the vehicles responsible for transporting support equipment, spare parts and loaders.
As far as Autoblog could know, the purpose of the crossing is to demonstrate the ability of these electric vehicles to travel long distances, along roads that will not always be simple.
